Extended cookie information

Using the internet is a great opportunity to communicate with other people, obtain useful information, exchange ideas and benefit from many services.

The Internet has facilitated many aspects of people’s lives, such as finding a product or service that interests us, and perhaps buying it directly by sending it home in a few days.

The Internet has allowed us to have access to an almost unlimited range of information, from the address of the restaurant where to have dinner and recipes for a home-cooked lunch.

And of course much more: with internet we can buy a plane ticket, rent a car, book a hotel, buy a signed pair of shoes or an object created by a small craftsman. We can find old friends or classmates and even take university courses.

To work so well, however, the Internet and all platforms that are based on its network, such as social networks, blogs, portals, newspapers, corporate sites and search engines (such as Google, for example) they must exchange information.

If, for example, I search on Google: “how to prepare a chocolate cake” I’m looking for useful information for me, but at the same time I’m communicating to Google that I like sweets, I like chocolate, I have a kitchen in to prepare a dessert, which is probably a birthday coming in the next few days and much more information.

It is right to be aware of how, voluntarily or not, we decide to share with those who offer us access to the information we are looking for.

If, after looking for the recipe for the chocolate cake, I visit some site that offers me some recipes, probably soon after and in the following days I could find other internet sites that host advertising space: food processors, recipe books for desserts, cooking classes , equipment for decorating cakes, chocolates and many other products or services more or less related to my past research.

How is this thing possible?

Because when we access the internet we do it with programs called “browser” like Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla or Opera. These are the most common and known.

These programs, browsers, store our passage on websites and, from the sites themselves, download small files called cookies into our computer, smartphone or tablet.

It is these files, cookies, that tell the site that hosts advertising space and that I am visiting that, a few days before, I became interested in chocolate cakes and, therefore, I might be interested (for example) to buy a robot from new kitchen.

If a street billboard offers the same advertising to all passersby, a website may offer an advertisement that is closer to my interests and can do so because, thanks to cookies registered in our browser, you know which sites we have previously visited.

Among the websites that today most involve people, especially through the smartphone, there are social networks.

Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube and many other platforms on which it is common to spend a lot of time use technologies similar to cookies and are able to read the cookies that our devices keep track of, in browsers or directly in the apps that we use on smartphones or tablets.

Our site and our behavior in relation to users’ personal data is appropriate to the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force on 25 May 2018.

The purpose of the European regulation is twofold: on the one hand, it protects European citizens who consent to the processing of personal data and, on the other, regulates more uniformly the aspect of privacy throughout the European Union.

The “personal data” includes any information concerning a natural person, for example the name, e-mail address, the address of residence, the IP address (in simplistic terms, that is, from where the Internet is connected to user) and much more.

Anyone who treats personal data, according to the GDPR regulation, is responsible for the protection of the collected data (even only through the cookies of their website) and is required to provide the interested parties a clear information on how these data will be used.

Among the elements of a site that can come into contact with this data there are, for example:

– User registration forms

– Comments section of any blog

– Contact forms

– Collection of data through access and navigation records

– Plugins used (third-party programs that allow a site to perform specific activities, such as contact forms, statistical analysis of accesses, etc.)

– tools for sending emails for commercial purposes (email marketing)

– Other data collection tools.

We want to be transparent and open about the way we collect and use your data. In the spirit of transparency, this information provides detailed information on how and when we use cookies.
